The first time this happened I did not know the cause, only suspected it. I just lost the desire to do anything except read a bit and essential housework. Pittosporum tenuifolium "Silver Sheen" looks wonderful at the BACK of a garden. I hope to plant another, if I can find the space. It's wispy attractive foliage also makes it a great choice to use as a single specimen or highlighting flanking columns to 'grand' up and entry. I replant them to better suit the garden and replace older trees that periodically die off. I lost my sense of smell in this episode, couldn't even smell eucalyptus, but could still smell - kohukohu - a slightly fruity pungent asphalt smell especially in the early morning. My sense of smell is nearly better now. However, in hotter inland climates, it will not perform as well often times. Very nice plant/tree! THIS IS AN ODD FACT: I have never once watered the tree. This is further enhanced if a gentle breeze causes the branches to move, making the plant shimmer. HOWEVER...I have been to the doc 3x now for a cough that just will not go away.
